The Off-Season “Mobile” Home

April 24, 2018
When looking into the history of Crested Butte, you will find that some of the smaller homes around town used to be up in Irwin. Throughout the years they were moved from Irwin to town where they have stayed. Well, we relived that part of our history last week when a home that was built 30 years ago was moved from Crested Butte to Crested Butte South. Instead of a perfectly good single-story house being torn down to make space Quick read more or view full article for a new home, it was picked up and moved 9 miles and will be repurposed into the top floor of a multi-level home for a local family. Seeing all the work that had to go into moving the house from Town to CB South with today’s technology, it really makes you wonder how they went about moving the cabins from Irwin so many years ago.

Doug Kroft named King of Flauschink

April 23, 2018
Flauschink is a spring celebration to flush out winter and welcome spring. It was started in 1969 by George Sibley and a group of Crested Butte locals. Flauschink traditions include a historic ski slide show, an evening of Polka with the Coronation Ball, a parade, and an afternoon skiing to Flauschink Hill above Uley’s cabin on closing day. On it’s 50th Anniversary, our very own Doug Kroft was named Flauschink King. He will continue his reign over the next year Quick read more or view full article with guest appearances at various events, but he will always be Flauschink Royalty.

Cheers!
